One week home….

It is almost time to travel again. Storm season is not over yet and we still have tons of inspections to do in a few hot spots around the country. So, as I have agreed, I will be heading out on Monday for yet another trip. I hope you will come along for the ride.

This last week I was the only Technical Field Manager in the “office” …. well home office, so I could not go far. But, I did still take time for myself and was able to continue with my fitness routine. On Friday I went and ran 13.2 miles (1/2 marathon) and may use it for a virtual race series that I am entered in. I also need to come up with a 5K, a 10K, and a 26.2 (full marathon) to finish the series. I will post more about that in the near future.

Today was about getting the back lawn cut, tomorrow I am going to hope it is dry enough that I can put down ant and insect killer and let it dry before I send the dogs back out on it. Tomorrow will also be about cleaning up the car, packing tools, testing batteries, etc. And, above all making sure I am not forgetting anything.

Got an update (another one) for the inspection app that we use to do our work. Maybe, hopefully, crossing my fingers, it will decide to actually work properly this time. I really do not want to have to go through the hell of my last trip software wise.

Speaking about software. I think for this trip I am leaving my laptop home. I have started to realize that I can do just about everything I need to do on my android phone. I broke down and purchased a decent bluetooth keyboard and mouse that connects perfectly to the phone. For those things that I need a bigger screen for, I can use the hotel’s large TV’s as a monitor as almost all of them either connect directly with chromecast, or they have HDMI plugs that my screencast dongle with connect with.

So, we still have one day left in the weekend, but Monday I head out again to destinations unknown. Just kidding, I know but, you don’t. Also, at the end of this trip there will be a pretty big surprise for a few people that I have not seen in 20+ years.

Stay tuned for more.
